70s Les Paul Custom that at one time had a third pickup added and various switching options
Nicely worn!
None original tuners

Pickup covers had been pained black…
Pole pieces also black..
Only one switch was actually working and that was a kill switch.,..
Blocks of Mahogany used (Norlin Era cost saving actually a good ecological solution to use as much of the off cuts of wood as possible)
Pots 300K volume and 500K tone.. all a bit worn.. Will replace with CTS 500K pots to achieve the brightest sound possible for the customer

Cover taken off revealed a nice T topped PAF humbucker
Both pickups T topped Gibson pcikups. Looked much better open coil
Added centre route fairly neat. But not wanted by current owner
Front pickup had wiring added to enable phase switching and coil tapping.. infact when I got it only worked on one coil..)
Pickups cleaned, none black pole pieces used and new cloth tape around them ready to be used “open coil” for brightest possible sound
Electrics stripped (to be taken back as close to original wiring as possible
Holes cleaned ready for filling
Plugs stained a little and first coat of finish added
Taking out the frets..
All done with minimum damage to the fret board.
Cleaned out..
Fret slots needed deeper grooves so were cut deeper… took a long time
New frets ready to go in
Wood glue used and excess wiped off with a damp cloth
Fret all in!
Fret ends all bevelled and smoothed
All masked off ready for levelling and dressing
Levelled ready for crowning – dressing
All done¬
Board being oiled!
Still oily.. soaking in!
pickups back in looking much better IMHO open toil… lovely T tops!
Pots and electrics next
Nice!
Pots wiired up with original caps waiting to go back in.
Pots all done!
wiring finished and checked

Fitting new bone nut!
Best part trying here out with a few different amps and setting pickup height etc..
Waiting for her witches hat knobs but all done otherwise!
