  1. Hey, do you have pictures of how you routed the neck pocket and set in the new neck? I’m planning to do something like this to an old epiphone as well with a shot neck that has the same offset joint like this one.

Thanks, and a job well done!

    • I am sorry I did not photograph that part but I made up a tight fitting MDF gig (10mm) cut out to fit the neck tenon then clamped that onto the body with the correct neck angle (which involved shimming and a lot of “adjustment. Then routed with a flush cut bit and adjusted to get just the right depth. It is tricky and next time I will photograph the process/ If you look on the mylespaul.com forums there are good examples of people doing this.

  2. I am actually a member of the forum there ^^; though I haven’t found anything as of yet.

Here’s a few more questions for ya:

Did you completely remove the old wood or left it in there for the new neck? what kind of a connection did you end up doing? (long tenon, short, etc..) and was the neck built by you or bought off somewhere?

  3. It was a long tenon in the centre of the neck (not offset like the original Epiphone. So some of the original neck is still in the body. The neck came from China and was incredibly low cost and pretty good quality (one piece except for a very little bit added at the base of the heal, no scarf joint. I have made necks from scratch but for this project I did not want to put in the hours
