Very bright amp with the rear pickup from my tele and heaven! After service giving her a work out. Very bright amp with the rear pickup from my tele and heaven! Amp in for a service with intermittent cut out issue. Except for pretty worn preamp tubes I can see no issues. Lovely amp! Need to play her a lot to see if the issues occurs for me 😉

Update the amp went back to the customer but the same cut out issue started again. This time in the workshop it did the same. So PCB out and the contacts around the dropper resistors were resoldered as there looked to be a few dry joints caused by the heating and cooling of those dropper resistors. All put back together and tested for a whole morning.. no issues. Also replaced the preamp tubes as one was making a rattling noise and they are very low gain…

  1. Man I wish you were in the US!!! Your site is awesome.

I have a BDRI and I’ve been trying to determine what pot value I need on the clean channel in order to make it less sensitive when turning it up. It’s very loud, even on the lowest volume setting.

If you can offer any guidance I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

    • Really it is not the pot value that is the issue it can be adjusted and modded to give lower gain by either reducing the plate load resistors or removing cathode decoupling.. I do not have the schematic open at the moment but a local amp tech should be able to help you out.
